These steps will tell you how to make a group on Facebook. After logging into Facebook go to your Home Page. You will see a small image of your profile picture on the left. Under this is a listed series of options. Click the option in the list called Create Group.
A new window will pop up. This window has two boxes titled Group Name and Members followed by a Privacy Settings menu. In the Group Name box is a small icon. Clicking on this reveals a menu of additional icons. Select the icon you want. In the box next to it type in your groups name. It's important to use keywords and phrases in the name when you make a group on Facebook so that your group will show up in the search engines.
In the Members box type in the beginning of a friends name you want to invite. Facebook will search for friends as you type. A list of names from your friends list matching the letters you've entered will appear. Using this list you can quickly select friends you want to add as members of your group.
Then select your Privacy Settings from the following options: Open, Closed, or Secret. These different options determine what information is kept private and what is made public. An Open privacy setting allows other people on Facebook to see your members and group pages content. Closed privacy makes content private, and Secret privacy makes content and members private. Afterwards, select the Create button.
Another window will pop up. Click the Okay button. You will go to your groups main page. Click the Edit Group button at the top right. This will redirect you to the Basic Information page.
Under your groups name and a list of its members is a line called Email Address. Select the option to Set up Group Email and type an email address into the pop-up window. All members will get a copy of any message sent to this email address. Then click the Create Email option. You will be redirected to the Basic Information page.
On the Basic Information page is the Description box. In this box, type information that you want others to know about your group. Anyone will be able to see this information unless your privacy setting has been set to Secret. Then select the Back to Group button at the top right hand corner of the screen. This will take you back to the groups main page. On the top right of this page is an Edit Settings button. Click on this button.
A window will pop up. A drop-down menu allows you to set your preferences for alerts. Alerts can be sent to you when anyone comments or posts on your group page. They will be sent to the email address you provided for your Facebook account unless you click on the blue Edit Your Notifications Settings link. Clicking this will allow you to provide a different email.
Then select home navigation settings and decide whether or not you want to be sent group chat messages. Click on the Save Settings button.
